Ali Bey T1 p 239 said that the water of the Morbeya when he passed it at Azemore was as muddy as the Nile in the season of inundation & could not be drunk without time being allowed for it to deposit the earthy particles. When however we passed it in November the Kaid of the plaid used a simple method for drinking it, placing his kerchief at ye edge of ye bowl, re rec[eive]d it strained into his mouth.

General Observations occurring to me on the journey
There could not be greater facilities prepared for travellers desirous of surveying this country than the creation, preservation and careful whitewashing of the sepulchres of so many canonized fools and madmen.
What is the reason of the wonderful quantities
of snail shells dead & alive seen throughout almost the whole
of ye country in which we have travelled to and from Marocco?
