School Staff-led Activities

These activities can be run by client/school staff and assistance is available in the form of a manual or from Licola Wilderness Village staff. These activities can also be run by Licola Wilderness Village staff, if requested.
  • Low Ropes & Initiatives (LWV / School staff) - In your groups, you will participate in a variety of low rope activities that require teamwork, balance, patience and high levels of concentration. Work as a team to solve some puzzles/activities. Elements of fun as well as working on teamwork.
  • Swimming pool - Depending on qualifications, this can be run by LWV or school staff. This can be an activity to teach about swim safety to just fun time to get cool in the pool.
  • Orienteering - Here you are shown how to read a map and use a compass. Then, in small groups, you are put to the test with a timed orienteering course. Can your team be the fastest orienteerers?
  • Archery - Learn the art of firing an arrow, safely and accurately. The group will be given a set number of arrows to try and obtain the best score in trying to overcome certain restrictions and challenges.
  • Bush Cooking - Bring out the master chef in you and your friends. Try making damper on the fire. Tell some fire-side stories and jokes. Learn how to safely manage and cook on a fire.

  • Mini Hike - Explore some of the local areas around Licola. It can be tough walking uphill, but the view and accomplishment make it worthwhile. Conducted only with approval from the local landholder
  • Indoor Sports - Use the large Sherlock Stadium for running activities such as hockey, soccer and basketball. A round-robin challenge.
  • Bush Art - Be creative with the bush around you. Make collages, murals, or mobiles with the interesting things you find around the natural environment. Use the art room facilities or spend time outside in the world around you.
  • Fly Fishing - Fish in the Macallister River, where people come for miles to fish in. Can you catch your dinner? BYO fishing rods.
  • Trampolines - Practise your skills in aerial manoeuvres. A time for relaxing and having some fun together as a group
  • Mini Golf - A relaxing game or challenge your team mates to a round of mini golf. It's something you can do in your free time or make it part of the program.
