Licola Wilderness Village Staff-led Activities

These activities require specialised qualifications to be run. Licola Wilderness Village will provide these staff for activities chosen by client/school upon booking.

  • High Ropes - 8 metres above the ground, the High Ropes consists of 5 challenging elements to promote trust, leadership, initiative and resourcefulness. Each participant is belayed on the course with ropes and safety harnesses.
  • Canoeing - Have the opportunity to paddle out on the river, learning the basic skills, also being able to participate in many games as well. This is river level dependent. If the river is too high, we can revert to white water rafting.
  • Rock climbing - Challenge yourself and encourage your team mates to climb the 12 metre climbing tower. Set yourself some goals and try your best to achieve them!

  • Flying Fox - You are suspended in a safety harness and attached to a 50m long wire and then released from the pull rope for an exhilarating ride. This can be an activity on its own, or part of high ropes.
  • Bike Touring - Travel the scenic back tracks out of the Licola valley along the magic Target Creek. Your bike team may choose to take it easy or may choose to ride hard to reach Primrose Gap for more scenic views. The finale is a downhill ride back to Licola.
  • Land Care and Tree Planting - (LandCare & school staff) - Working with LandCare officers, you will learn how to identify native trees of this area, how to collect seeds and propagate them in a nursery, and plant trees around Lions Village Licola and neighbouring properties.
  • Raft Building - As a team, make a raft to paddle across the river and save either your school teacher or Roger the Chicken on the other side.
  • White water rafting - Travel down the MacAllister River by rafts. This can be a half day, whole day or overnight experience. (river level dependent).
  • Cross Country Skiing - With the Alpine National Park only 30 minutes drive away, your group can experience some winter beauty and learn to travel on snow. This can be a half day to 3 day journey.
  • Bushwalking & camping skills - Depending on the program, this can be anywhere from ½ day to 5 days walking within the Alpine National Park (only 30 minutes drive away). It is an opportunity to develop students relationships with themselves, their group and increase appreciation for the natural environment. From Mt Howitt to Lake Tarli Karn, the adventures are endless.
