TV & Film

Being a child of the 1960s and through the wonders of syndication, I'm pretty familiar with most American and some British TV programs from the 1950s through the 1970s... and I particularly have a fondness for cartoons from this era.

Most of the classic cartoons from the Looney Tunes series and Hanna-Barbera cartoons (like Yogi Bear ) are favourites as are some more recent offerings, such as Ren and Stimpy and 2 Stupid Dogs . I've also been very interested in Hanna-Barbera, Warner Brothers and Tex Avery cartoons from the earlier days of animation. They're great to see when they're put to air, however rarely, here in Australia.

Otherwise, American and British TV comedy/adventure/sci-fi series from the early days of TV provide the most entertainment for me. Programs like Get Smart , Lost In Space (before it was popular again), Batman and Star Trek are all shows that I'd get up at 2am to see.

Contemporary TV doesn't really do a lot for me. I'd much rather watch old shows like Hogan's Heroes , The Odd Couple , etc. than the soap opera/cops'n'robbers junk that's on TV at the moment... One day, I'll lash out and get onto Nick-At-Nite and The Cartoon Network and I'll be much happier with my TV viewing. At any rate, you might like to have a look through the Classic TV Web Ring for lots of interesting sites.

As far as films are concerned, I don't really go to the cinema very much. I do, however, have an on-going devotion to older films, particularly the silents (e.g. Chaplin, Keaton, etc.) and science fiction (e.g. The Day the Earth Stood Still , Forbidden Planet , plus others) and some adventure/documentary films.
