RoomShaker Tutorial:
Changing Multiple Tiles

This Tutorial assumes that RoomShaker is setup correctly on your system See Tutorials: Setting up RoomShaker & POPLM.

In this tutorial I will cover each of the selection modes when editing a room with the room editor. We'll start by loading RoomShaker and opening up level 2.

Now, Right-click room 10, this will take you to the room editor with room 10 currently active.

Single selection mode:
Firstly, lets cover single selection mode. To select only one tile all you have to do is left-click on it, lets use this now to change the tile on the right of the leftmost column to a torch, click tile 15.

All other selected tiles will be unselected and tile 15 will now have the red selection mark on it. Click tile 16 and watch what happens, notice that tile 15 lost its selection? OK, click tile 15 again and select from the “tile” dropdown list “torch”.

Tile 15 is now a torch and notice that tile 15 stays selected?.

Now lets unselect tile 15 and leave no tiles selected. Do this by left-clicking “outside” of the tile-grid but not on an arrow. This will unselect all currently selected tiles.

Multiple selection modes:

Add / Remove selection mode:
To select more than one tile, press and hold the control key “Ctrl” and then click the tile(s) you want to add to the selection. With tile 15 still selected, hold ctrl then click tiles 18 & 28.

Notice that all three tiles are now selected?. We are going to change these three tiles into pillars, do this by selecting “Pillar” from the “Tile” list.

We can also remove selections by holding Ctrl and clicking on tiles that are already selected. Unselecting this way works with all selection modes including single selection mode.

Row select mode:
You can quickly select a whole row of tiles in one move with RoomShaker. To do this, hold down the “Shift” key and click a row “Top”, “Middle” or “Bottom”.

We will do this now, but before we do I will let you know that row and column select modes do not unselect any tiles, these modes add to the current selection.

OK, unselect all tiles by clicking outside the grid, now hold down the Shift key and click any of the tiles on the top row (Tiles 1 -> 10). See how all the top tiles became selected?, try it again with the bottom row now.

Column select mode:
You can quickly select a whole column of tiles
in one move with RoomShaker. To do this, hold down the “Shift” key and also hold down the “Ctrl” key then click a tile that belongs to the column that you want to select.

OK, unselect all tiles by clicking outside the grid, now hold down the Shift key and the Ctrl key and then click any tile.

See how the three tiles in the column are selected?. Try it again on another column except click a tile in another row.

OK, thats all there is to selecting tiles. You will find that its not too difficult with a bit of practice remember, the multi selection modes can save you a lot of time when editing many rooms.
